A few months after the events of "Warrior Within", Prince Malik (the Prince) is still haunted by the demon that awaits in his dreams. When he discovers that his father Shahraman has been imprisoned in another dimension by Empress Tamina, Malik sets out with Bedouin warrior Tazim to rescue him. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, who took over the production after French developer Ubisoft Montpellier ceased operations. It is the first game developed by Ubisoft Montreal not to be published by Ubisoft's French division. The game's storyline was written by George Stobbart, whose draft won an award for best video game story at the 2005 Writers Guild Awards. The script underwent minimal changes compared to the original draft, approving only one change that extended Tazim's character beyond his role as a background character.
